Application Instructions

$500 Scholarship

Scholarships of $500 will be awarded.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a child of a Tri-County Electric member or live in a home served by Tri-County Electric or attend high school in our service territory (Charles B. Aycock, Eastern Wayne, Wayne School of Engineering, Wayne Early College, Rosewood, Southern Wayne, Spring Creek, East Duplin, Duplin Early College, James Kenan, North Duplin, North Lenoir, or South Lenoir).
  • Must be a high school graduating senior.
  • Must pursue a regular 4-year undergraduate course leading to a baccalaureate degree.
  • Must plan to attend an accredited 4-year college or university.
$250 Scholarship

Scholarships of $250 will be awarded.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a child of a Tri-County Electric member or live in a home served by Tri- County Electric or attend a high school in our service territory. (Charles B. Aycock, Eastern Wayne, Wayne School of Engineering, Wayne Early College, Rosewood, Southern Wayne, Spring Creek, East Duplin, Duplin Early College, James Kenan, North Duplin, North Lenoir, or South Lenoir).
  • Must be a high school graduating senior.
  • Must pursue a regular course of study at a junior college, community college, vocational, or technical college.
Information Requirements

Applicants must provide the following:

  • Completed online application
  • Transcript from high school
  • Short essay (at least 500 words) that describes the student’s career goals and how they intend to achieve them, the student’s involvement in local clubs, school and community activities, and explain why they believe they should receive the scholarship.
  • 2 letters of recommendation
Selection Procedure

Selection is made by a Scholarship Committee made up of judges selected by Tri-County EMC. Applicants must be willing to be interviewed by the committee, if necessary, and attend the scholarship banquet. Scholarship Banquet date to be decided.

Decisions made by this committee shall be final.

Selection is determined based on the following criteria:

  • Scholastic achievement: 60%
  • Extracurricular activities: 30%
  • Need: 10%
