Help Conserve Energy Today During Peak Demand Hours

Tri-County EMC is encouraging members to take simple steps today to help reduce electricity demand during extreme temperatures. Small adjustments—like raising your thermostat a few degrees or delaying the use of large appliances—can make a big impact when multiplied across thousands of homes.

These collective actions help keep the electric grid stable and reliable for everyone, especially during high-usage hours from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“Time and again, our members demonstrate their engagement on energy and community issues, and we are asking for their support again today,” said Deidra Grantham, Manager of Marketing and Communications for Tri-County EMC. “If it’s safe to do so, please consider raising your thermostat and using fans to stay comfortable. Air conditioning is the single biggest contributor to high demand in summer, and every degree counts.”

Ways to Reduce Energy Use Today:

  • Raise your thermostat a few degrees and close blinds during peak sun hours.
  • Delay the use of large appliances—such as dishwashers, washers, and dryers—until after 8 p.m.
  • Turn off unnecessary lights, including outdoor and ambient lighting.

We appreciate your continued efforts to support a reliable energy future. Tri-County EMC will keep members informed through email, social media, and our website as conditions evolve.
